What's the Story?
WE ARE HERE blends poetry and multilayered illustrations to tell an important story. The book celebrates the distinct history of Black and Brown communities across centuries. Rich language, unique cultures, historic accomplishments, trend-setting style, and groundbreaking movements are all highlighted. It is an anthem, an ode, and a celebration of those who've come before us, and who are yet to come. Throughout the story, readers are reminded about the power that they have in their roots, which strengthens them.
Is It Any Good?
This beautiful children's book is educational, empowering, and visually stunning. We Are Here is a lovely continuation of the foundation set by All Because You Matter. In an Author's Note, Tami Charles writes, "these words are my gift to [her child] and to all the children who need to hear them."
